Kao Fu (烤麸) is a Shanghainese vegetarian cold appetizer, often sold dried, that tastes kind of like tofu.
Kao Fu is a form of wheat gluten, the main protein of wheat. It is made by washing wheat flour dough with water.
All the starch granules have been dissolved and removed, the remaining sticky insoluble gluten is then cooked as Kao Fu.
Ready to serve. Cook for at least 18 minutes until fully heated.
