Poon choi, or literally translated to “Chinese casserole in a basin” is a communal dish that is unique to Hong Kong and Guangdong.
There are different versions of the origin of poon choi, yet it is an important part of the village culture, for more than 700 years.
Poon choi is served whenever there are celebrations connected with rituals, weddings, ancestor worship, festivals like Chinese New Year.
